Object Description

Exchange token used instead of money at the establishment of the Schloss Bothers. The value is 12½ cents. The coin is made or brass or bronze.

Object Use

Such tokens were commonly used by businesses in the late 19th century for purposes of stimulating sales. The token’s stamped face value could be applied towards the purchase of goods or services at the business indicated on the piece.
