Fine & Green

Jeannie B. (Fine) Green (Jean Fine)
Born: 1896, Germany
Died: November 5, 1930, buried in Hebrew Cemetery (J section), Evergreen Cemetery, unmarked
Married: Louis Green, August 7, 1930
Chaffee County, Colorado

Jeannie Fine was born in Germany in 1896 and immigrated to the United States in 1910, she was a naturalized citizen. [1] She apparently married Louis Green in neighboring Chaffee County, Colorado, on August 7, 1930, under the name of Jeannie B. Farmsworth. [2] A third surname seems plausible as there may have been an earlier marriage. However, based on the addresses below, it seems likely that Jeannie worked on the wrong side of the sheets and may have been using pseudonyms.

Jeannie moved to Leadville and lived at 104 West 2nd Street and later at 108 West 2nd Street. [3] On November 4, 1930, Jeannie visited the Pioneer Saloon next door for water. She was accidentally shot by Bob Sain, a bartender, who was moving a .41 revolver behind the bar. Jeannie was taken to St. Vincent Hospital where she died the following day. A funeral service was held for Jeannie at Moynahan-O’Malia with Nathan H. Miller [4] officiating. Interment was in the Hebrew Cemetery. The pallbearers were Jake Loeb [5], Angus McDonell, Al Garland, Marcus Donahue, Austin Shuck, and Jake Sandusky. [6] Jennie’s husband, Louis Green then of Boston, Massachusetts, came to Leadville for the funeral. Jeannie was known to her friends as Jennie Fine. [7]
