Minimal historical records exist of Abraham Owosky, including of his time in Leadville. The first and only written indication of his presence is his obituary published on April 3, 1900 in the Herald Democrat. [1] The obituary listed his residence as 419 West Elm Street, a building which served as both the county’s hospital and poor house run by Hattie J. Berryman, mother to Gertrude Berryman Kahn. [2] Due to a lack of further written records on Abraham’s time in Leadville, it is unknown at which he resided. He died on April 2nd, 1900 at the age of 53 and was buried at Leadville’s Hebrew Cemetery. [3]
