Saul Seligsberg
Born: Bavaria, 1844
Died:

Saul Seligsberg was likely a Leadville resident for only a few months during 1880. Curiously he is listed in the 1880 Leadville city directory, [1] published in June, [2] the same month he was enumerated in the 1880 United States census in Ruby City, Colorado, [3] where he owned a dry goods store. [4] During his time in Leadville, Saul was employed as a bookkeeper at the clothing, consignment and auction enterprise belonging to David May and Moses Shoenberg while residing at 136 W. 3rd Street. [5] No records for Saul can be found after 1880 and a newspaper report from Irwin, Colorado, indicates he was suffering from a “…hemorrhage of the lungs.”, on July First. [6] It is possible he did not survive the ailment.

1 Although the directory was published in June, the data was collected over the preceding months. He was counted in Ruby City by a U.S. census enumerator on June 17, 1880.
