Abraham B. Weigert
Occupation: Clerk, cigar seller
Born: Est. 1855
Birthplace: New York
Died: N/A
Abraham B. Weigert was born in New York circa 1855 to German parents. [1] The only verifiable census listing for Abraham is from the 1880 Census which makes it difficult to glean information about his life before Leadville.
Abraham first appeared in the inaugural Leadville city directory, published in 1879, working at Lew Shoenberg’s [2] clothing business on Chestnut Street. [3] Over the next two years, Abraham was cited in city directories as a clerk for May [4] & Shoenberg at 110 Harrison Avenue in 1880 [5] and a cigar seller at 326 Harrison Avenue in 1881. [6] His only listed residence over that three-year period was identical to his business address in 1881 which was 326 Harrison Avenue.
No references to Abraham exist in local newspapers nor does he appear in city directories after 1881. Curiously, no individual even roughly matching his name and year of birth appears in censuses or other available vital records after 1880, which prohibits tracking his movements post-Leadville.
