The date of Martin Josephson’s arrival in Leadville is unknown.  A death notice serves as the only written record of Josephson’s presence in the city.  The Colorado Miner records that, “Martin Josephson, formerly of Denver, committed suicide in the Leadville jail last Monday night.”[1]   The cause for his imprisonment is unknown, as is how Josephson took his life.  He was interred in the Leadville Hebrew Cemetery.[2]
